Funny: We have been teaching this awesome guy named William! He has a girlfriend in Idaho who originally introduced him to the church. We were teaching him about commandments the other day, and we were going through each one to make sure he understood them all and was willing to live all of the commandments. We were having him read them and we came to the one that says "Thou shalt not steal" and he said "Guys... I have a problem with this one... I stole my girlfriends heart." It was really funny! He decided that he wants to get baptized in Idaho in a couple of weeks so she can be there to support him. We are so excited for him! Spiritual: We had zone conference this week. I love President Howell! I really feel that my mission president is called of God and he is called for me. We had interviews the day before zone conference and he just got to know me mostly. Funny: So earlier this week my companion and I found an opportunity to serve someone in the community! There is this really sweet old lady who needed help cleaning her house. So, we came over all ready to work. We asked her "Where do you want us to start cleaning!" and she said "my doll room"........ So, we go deep down into the depths of her house, and in the very back room in her basement is this little bedroom. Every wall is lined with shelves covered in a plethora of dolls. She asked us to take down each doll and clean them carefully and dust the shelf then put it back. It was genuinely scary. She left, and Sister Marshall and I were alone in this little room, at one point she really thought the dolls were moving on their own. It was pretty creepy. However, all is well, because we got to serve a sweet little old lady. Spiritual: So, I have noticed there are miracles pretty much every week I am here. Funny: The people of North Dakota are generally very friendly and kind. Almost everyone will smile and wave back at you when you greet them. The other day Sister Marshall and I were knocking on people’s doors to share the message about Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Some people are not interested in hearing what we have to say, but they are so polite and nice they don't want to be rude. For example, we knocked on a woman's door the other day, and she did not want to talk to us, but she didn't want to straight up slam the door in our face either. So, with a very apologetic look on her face she said "I'm gonna shut the door on you now." She seemed genuinely sorry about it. It was the politest door slam I've ever experienced. I thought it was So funny! I couldn't help but laugh. Spiritual: We have been experiencing lots of miracles this week! Funny: Earlier this week my companion and I started talking to a guy on a street corner about the gospel. He kept telling us how he has seen demons and ghosts. I'm pretty sure he was sober and he seemed interested in learning more so we talked with him for a while. My companion is a convert for almost two years now and she has a couple tattoos. The guy started saying something like how people who marked their bodies were followers of the anti-christ. We respectfully disagreed with him, and he wants to meet with us again to learn more about the gospel. So he is our newest investigator! Spiritual: I have been learning a lot about faith this week. In 3rd Nephi verse 20 it says "And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you". Funny: So last night we were driving to go have dinner at Brother Ringen's house and a huge thunder storm came in. It's very flat and windy here in North Dakota I often find myself feeling like Marilyn Monroe when the wind picks up. When we got out of the car it was rainy and windy but it was a warm day so I didn't think it would be too bad outside. When we were walking to their door my teeth started chattering because I was so cold. My only thought was I get cold here in the middle of summer I wonder what the winters will be like? Good thing I didn't come to North Dakota for the weather. I really do love it here! Spiritual: One of the things I have learned this week is your reality may never meet your expectations, but the higher you set your expectations the greater your reality will become. Having hope is the beginning of having faith. Acting in faith leads to miracles. When we have great hope for ourselves and our future we will become great through Christ. We...
