Beware of the Spike
Funny: My entire district is hilarious. I was kind of
under the impression that missionaries are more mature, and less silly than other
young adults. But I was wrong they are still silly and funny. To name a few of
the funny thing this week: one of the elders made up a rap about missionary
work, and he is this farm boy from a tiny country town and has the shyest,
quiet voice so hearing him try to rap is quite amusing. One of my roommates
keeps jumping out and scaring me at random times, and I jump scare so easily
and quite often I will either fall down or get into a defensive ninja position.
One of the elders was dared to jump head first into a trash can which surprisingly
he did. Hopefully by the time they get on the mission field they will have
slightly better judgement.
Spiritual: I got to listen to the talk Character of Christ
on Sunday by Elder Bednar. I learned so much in that talk. The most important
thing I got from it is that to become more like Christ we need to turn towards
others and love and serve them always. The best feeling I had this week was
when I got to teach our investigator. Her name is Danica and seeing the joy we
brought her by telling her about the gospel and the truths in the Book of
Mormon made me more happy than I can say. I could see her growing closer to
Christ, and I could see the joy it brought her. I've honestly never felt
happier than when I get to see that joy in others.
Where I am at: This week has been great! I really love
the MTC there is so much to learn and so little time. I love being busy and
always having things to do. I've learned so much this week alone. Yesterday I
got a little bit too engaged in a volley ball game and tried to spike a ball,
but the elder across the net did too and I ran into him and fell and sprained
my ankle. It isn't too bad though it will probably heal within the next week.
Other than that, nothing new has happened this week. I'm still on the lookout
for my mission president. He is probably at the MTC too hopefully we see him
before we leave. I love my district, I've made such good friends here! I'm
really excited to finally go to North Dakota on the 27th though!
Just an update of my foot from this morning to this evening.
They told me it's just a sprain and will heal in the next few days. It doesn't
hurt at all though and I can still walk just fine I just have a slight limp.
