Funny: This week's funny story is courtesy of my dear
companion. Sister Archibald is a little bit crazy sometimes, it makes my life
more exciting and hilarious. The other night we were talking to one of our
neighbors, when Sister Archibald started tapping my leg relentlessly. She did
it in such a way that Pam (our neighbor) couldn't see, but she was clearly
wanting to leave, and it was getting dark so I wrapped up the conversation. On
our way back home, it was about 8:30, and before I could ask her what was wrong
she started saying that she was extremely hungry because we hadn't eaten dinner
yet, and we needed to go home and eat. The second we got in the door she
started hollering saying that she is RAVENOUS! As she continued to yell the
word ravenous repeatedly, she began making herself rice-aroni. She started
putting it all in the pan when I heard a scream. I went to go see what was
wrong, to discover that she was distraught that the packet of flavoring was
already opened and had become slightly stale. Personally, if I was ravenous I
wouldn't have cared too much. However, in a fit of hanger (hungry anger) she
ran outside and dumped the pan of rice onto our front yard. As soon as she came
inside she said "WE ARE GOING TO SUBWAY" So I drove her to subway and
she ate a foot long to satisfy her ravenous hunger. And after that she was
totally fine and back to normal again. 😆 I love my
companion she is very silly, I'm going to miss her!
(For the record I have her full permission and support to
tell this story and share this picture of us)
spiritual: We had so many lessons we taught this week! Each
person we teach I can see when the spirit touches them and they feel that same
love of God that has converted me so deeply to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints. One example was when we were teaching Lois this sweet old Lakota lady.
I love teaching her she is so happy and laughs so often! When we were teaching her,
I felt the love that God has for her touch me so deeply I saw her the way he
sees her. The words that came out of my mouth felt like they were straight from
him to her. We both started crying and we could both feel that love that he has
for us. It was a special moment, and I am grateful to feel that same love for
people every day! It's impossible for me not to believe in God when I feel his
love as tangibly as I feel the love of my family and friends.
Where I am at: This has been one of the best weeks.
Sometimes I think every week is the best week, but I particularly liked this
one because we worked really hard all week! There was an event that one of the
members in our branch put on for the whole community it was a fire benefit to
feed and thank the first responders for putting out the fires we have had. It
was really cool! Also, we did some service at someone’s house, and they had
these giant rocks they needed moved out of their front yard. It felt like a
caveman work out. Who needs weight lifting when you can lift giant rocks! I was
pretty sore the next day. So transfer calls were today.... and guess what! I am
going to be trio training with a missionary named Sister Hamblin! there is a
girl waiting on her visa (I don't know her name or where she is going) but we
get to have her in Hot Springs until she gets her visa, and goes to her
mission. So, to recap this is my third transfer. I opened up a new area last
transfer which I will now be taking over and Sister Hamblin and I will be
training this transfer (thankfully she is very experienced. She has been a
Sister training Leader for the last few transfers.) I am grateful that I don't
have to trust in my own abilities because the Lord can do ALL things! I trust
that he will help me. I know that I wouldn't be able to do any of this without
him, but with him we can accomplish anything! So I am very excited for this
next transfer and all of the awesome challenges that will come with it!
