Funny: This week we had transfers, so I was in Rapid City
all Thursday waiting for my new companion to come all the way from Minnesota. I
was with my Sister Training Leader (Sister Penrod) all day, and we ended up
doing a bunch of service! My favorite was we went to an old folks home to
prepare meals for the elderly. In the back of this little lunch room were these
two little old men. One on the piano, and the other on the drums. They were
playing a bunch of old songs, that are just perfect for dancing. So in the
lunch room where all the elderly could see I taught Sister Penrod how to dance
and we danced and served food for a couple of hours! All of the elderly just
lit up and started smiling and laughing when they walked in the room. I was so
happy, I couldn't stop smiling! It was a day I won't soon forget. Making others
happy brings me so much joy!
Spiritual: We had so many good lessons this week! And we
found a lot of new people who want to learn about the gospel. I always feel the
spirit when we teach. This week my testimony of prayer has really grown. I love
in Enos 15 when he says "Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing
that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it." God
truly does ALWAYS answer our prayers. He may not do it in the timing we want or
the way we want, but he always answers them. Too often I used to pray, hoping I
would get an answer, but not knowing that I would. Now when I pray I know he
hears me, and I know he does answer prayers. The only way to know that prayer
works is to try praying. I invite all of you to pray it doesn't have to be
long, exciting, or crazy. Just a simple prayer telling our Heavenly Father what
your feeling and thinking. The concerns you have. The things you are thankful
for. Asking him sincerely what he desires of you. He will answer.
Where I am at: I got my new companion on Thursday! We were
supposed to be getting a third companion that we were going to train together,
but after meeting with her President Howell perceived that she should go to
North Dakota. So it turns out it will just be Sister Hamblin and I! They also
changed which district we are in. So now instead of driving to Chadrin Nebraska
every week we will drive to Rapid City South Dakota. They are both about an
hour away from us, it should be an exciting change. I finally took pictures
next to the Hot Springs and Custer signs which are the biggest cities in my area!
Well I don't know if 3000 people and 1000 people counts as a city, but they are
big compared to the rest of the towns in our area. I love Sister Hamblin, I
forgot to take a picture with her, but I'll send one next week. She is such a
great missionary! This is her second to last transfer, so if I’m lucky I’ll get
to be her companion right up until she goes home! Bryan K Taylor (one of the
quorum of the 70) will be coming to our mission tomorrow so I’m very excited
for that! I'll let you know how it goes next week. I love you all so much,
thanks for all of the love and support you give!
